CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Six months after the Woodstock neighborhood was devastated by flooding, the city of Clarksville is unveiling a plan for infrastructure improvements they hope will prevent people’s homes from flooding again.

Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts and Street Director David Smith presented the plan to Woodstock residents at a meeting Thursday night.

They detailed a phased approach to the improvements. Phase one will start with excavating the neighborhood’s existing basin to double its current capacity from 35 million gallons to more than 70 million. It will require the city to remove 120,000 cubic yards of dirt, which will be transferred to the site of a new hospital being built in the city.
