Failure of Will is hard to stomach

Experts agree that tackling child poverty is best done in the early years. ‌

Trying to give kids an equal chance is rooted in good policies from nursery through to primary school. ‌

So the SNP’s commitment to providing free breakfasts to all primary school pupils was a good one. ‌

Children should not be arriving at school hungry because going without ­breakfast will affect their focus.

But there is a gap between sound intention and implementation and the government has not made enough progress.

A poll today shows Scots are ­overwhelmingly behind rolling out free breakfasts to primary school kids and the government should get a move on. ‌
