In his first game as an NHL player, Harrison Brunicke got to start alongside Sidney Crosby and two other iconic Penguins teammates at Madison Square Garden.

In his second, Thursday’s 4-3 victory against the New York Islanders at PPG Paints Arena, the rookie netted his first NHL goal. Then he got the widest of eyes after the game when he watched Mario Lemieux walk inside the Penguins’ dressing room.

Welcome to the big leagues, kid.

Now how is he going to top this?

“Just keep building off of it,” Brunicke said. “There’s a lot of areas with room for improvement. Like I’ve said, bigger, stronger, faster guys. I want to keep playing against those guys and showcasing my skill and effort, and just keep competing.”
