: The Hill Farmers’ Union (HFU) on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Minister in-charge Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Timothy D Shira urging the state government to address their 26-point charter of demands.
Additionally, the union has urged the government to link the international markets through the Union which has surplus farmers’ produce like cashew nut, ginger, black pepper, pineapple and jackfruits.
“This international market would greatly help the promotion of farmers’ livelihood and it would encourage other farmers to take interest in farming activities,” HFU said in the letter.
