Congress leader and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Gaurav Gogoi has launched a sharp attack on the state government over the handling of the Zubeen Garg death probe, accusing the Assam Police of rushing to make arrests without conducting a proper investigation.
“When such serious allegations are made, it is the responsibility of the Assam Police to ensure that the evidence can stand in court,” Gogoi said during a press briefing at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati on Friday. “For charges as grave as murder or culpable homicide, the investigation must be thorough and impartial. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened. Instead, we’ve seen hurried arrests and a lack of credible inquiry.”
