CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Tidal flooding is expected Friday morning, which could cause some roads on the Charleston peninsula to close.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service said high tide will occur around 11 a.m.; however, they noted that saltwater flooding is possible one to two hours before and after high tide.

A developing coastal storm off Florida’s east coast will continue to generate gusty northeast winds, and chances for rain, mixing with the full moon high tide cycle, will increase the likelihood of tidal flooding.

The National Weather Service in Charleston issued a coastal flood warning for coastal Charleston and Colleton Counties from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
