MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — Agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement raided a Mexican food restaurant Thursday afternoon, detaining an unknown number of workers.
The city of Mount Vernon released a statement on its website saying the raid occurred at about 12:30 p.m. at Pancho’s Tacos.
“The City of Mount Vernon, Mount Vernon Police Department, and the Office of the Law Director did not receive communication or coordination from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials regarding the timing, scope, or nature of this operation,” the statement says.
The statement says the city is trying to get more information from ICE and other agencies that participated in the raid.
