A large crowd lined up in Center City early Friday morning as Nike’s first Jordan Brand “World of Flight” store is set to open in Philadelphia.

Last year, Nike announced they had chosen a two-story building built in 1921 at 1617 Walnut Street to house the first U.S. location of its “World of Flight” store.

A document submitted to the Philadelphia Historic Commission described the design concept of the store as something that was inspired by the “intersection of Philadelphia Historical Architecture and Jordan Brand.”

The Rittenhouse Square store is the first “World of Flight” location in the U.S. and only the fourth worldwide, with other locations in Italy, Japan and Dubai.
