Five candidates are running for four open at-large seats on the Grimes City Council in the Nov. 4 election.
The field includes incumbents Laurie DePhillips and Ryan Burger face challengers Joe Herman, Leslie Irlbeck and Jared Lovelady. Voters may select up to four candidates on the ballot.
The Des Moines Register asked each candidate to respond to questions on why they're running and the issues their district is facing. Their answers may be lightly edited for clarity or length.
