GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, MI - A Grand Traverse County man was arrested this week after authorities said evidence showed he was the biological father of the baby born to his own teenage daughter earlier this year.

The suspect, 34, is accused of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and was taken to the county jail, according to The Ticker. Physical evidence collected from the man’s Garfield Township home was analyzed by Michigan State Police Forensic Lab technicians before the arrest.

Child Protective Services alerted the sheriff’s department in May to allegations of a sex assault after a girl, 14, gave birth. Initially, another person was eyed as a suspect until the evidence allegedly linked the girl’s father to the assault.
