(Tea, SD) — A man accused of a fatal shooting in the City of Tea is asking for his case to be dismissed. Timothy Overton is accused of shooting and killing 19-year-old Isaiah Morales during a physical confrontation in an apartment parking lot in June 2024. Investigators say Overton shot Morales in the head during the incident, which led to Overton being charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His defense team reportedly presented sufficient evidence to establish a claim of self-defense last month, while stating that prosecutors have not met their burden to disprove the argument. No other hearings have been scheduled in the near future, as an official ruling on the request to dismiss the case has not been made.
