A mum-of-six who violently murdered a 'funny and outgoing' Coventry man has been jailed for life. Laura Shanley stabbed Alfred James Corbett at a property in Foleshill .
Alfred, who was known as Jamie, was found seriously injured at a property on Edmund Road just after 4am on September 17, 2024. Police were called, and Shanley was arrested.
The mum, who had been in a relationship with Mr Corbett, had initially denied the killing but was convicted by a jury at Warwick Crown Court on October 1. Jurors heard that Mr Corbett had been manipulated and coercively controlled in the days before he was killed.
Shanley had been drinking heavily in the hours before Mr Corbett was murdered. She returned to his property on Edmund Road, and the pair argued about the impact of her drinking.
