Plymouth City Council has been handed just under £900,000 from the government as part of an £84m cash injection to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping ahead of the winter.
The Labour Government has allocated £876,623 additional funding to Plymouth to help support those who are living rough, sofa surfing or struggling to live in temporary accommodation - particularly those with children.
Children and families in temporary accommodation will be prioritised – with the funding to go towards helping families to cover the essentials like food, school travel and laundry. The new funding, which will support children to remain in education , was announced today [October 10] - which also marks World Homeless Day.
