KENT, Wash. — Interstate 5 northbound has reopened completely in Kent after an hours-long closure Friday due to a fatal motorcycle crash.

The roadway was completely closed following the accident at around 2 a.m. Later, the HOV lane reopened. Traffic was also being redirected onto state Route 516 during the closure.

Backups stemming from the crash stretched 10 miles down the freeway, reaching state Route 18 south of Federal Way.

Although the road has reopened, lengthy delays are expected to persist for several more hours. Anyone heading north in I-5 is asked to give themselves extra time to reach their destinations.

Washington State Patrol said another vehicle was involved in the early-morning motorcycle accident, but that the driver did not appear to be at fault in the collision. WSP h
