OMAHA, Neb. —

Vision Zero Omaha says safety improvements to 30th Street between Grebe and Fillmore Streets will start Tuesday.

The city says it'll place traffic calming measures, like lane markings and signage, with the goal of reducing speeding and increasing drivers focus.

The need for these improvements comes after officials looked at crash data from previous years.

16 minor injury crashes

7 serious injury crashes

2 pedestrian crashes

1 bicycle crash

Construction is scheduled to start Tuesday, October 14 and will take about two weeks.

During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
