Karwa Chauth is one of the most cherished Hindu festivals, symbolizing love, devotion, and the deep emotional bond between married couples. Celebrated primarily by married women, the festival holds immense cultural and spiritual significance. According to the Vedic lunar calendar, Karwa Chauth falls on the Chaturthi Tithi of the Krishna Paksha- the fourth day of the waning moon- in the month of Kartik. In 2025, the festival will be observed with grandeur both in India and across Indian diaspora communities in the United States and Canada. On this day, married women observe a nirjala vrat, a fast undertaken without food or water, from sunrise until the moon rises at night. The fast is broken only after sighting the moon and offering prayers for the well-being and longevity of their husb
