Reconfigured Cleveland Ward 3 for this year’s City Council elections is an ungainly U-shaped ward. It reaches from Interstate 77 on the west, picking up parts of Slavic Village and the city’s North Broadway neighborhoods, then heads eastward along a narrow Union Avenue corridor to the Mount Pleasant neighborhood and Shaker Square. The ward abuts the cities of Shaker Heights and Cleveland Heights on the east and Newburgh Heights on the west.

Two candidates seek the support of the voters of this new ward on Nov. 4 -- current Ward 4 Councilwoman Deborah A. Gray and challenger Erich V.
