Security guard accused of hitting homeless man in face with police baton

A security guard working for a firm the city hired to patrol local parks is charged with battery using a deadly weapon for reportedly hitting a transient man twice in the face with a metal police baton.

The incident happened about 1:20 a.m. Sept. 27 at the city's Peoples Park on Kirkwood Avenue in downtown Bloomington.
