An inquest concluded a West Bromwich Albion fan who collapsed during a Championship match died from natural causes.

However Mark Townsend's family were hoping the coroner would have stronger recommendations at the end of the two-week inquest.

The 57-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest at Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough Stadium after travelling to the away game on September 28, 2024.

Sheffield’s senior coroner Tanyka Rawden said she accepted there had been confusion between the paramedics from the private medical team - contracted by Sheffield Wednesday - who were the first to get to Mr Townsend, and those who arrived later from Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
