The death of a West Lothian prisoner who died after developing a stomach ulcer behind bars is to be probed by a sheriff.

Stewart Glancy , 38, was found dead in his cell at HMP Addiewell in June 2020. Relatives say he had begged to see a doctor in the days before his death at the West Lothian nick.

Fellow inmates also claimed he was in pain for days but his pleas to be taken to hospital were refused. He was nearing the end of a sentence for attempted housebreaking.

A Fatal Accident Inquiry (FAI) into the circumstances surrounding Stewart's death is now set to be carried out. A preliminary hearing will take place at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on February 2 next year, reports the Daily Record .
