Relatives of a Troutdale family of four killed when an impaired driver slammed head-on into their Toyota Rav4 filed a $50 million wrongful death suit Thursday against the motorist, his employer and the family’s car insurance company.
The suit alleges that the motorist, Jesse Carl Ross, was negligent for driving after taking drugs and crossing into oncoming traffic and that his employer, the nonprofit Ducks Unlimited, failed to supervise Ross to prevent the fatal crash.
Ross, now 45, was sentenced earlier this year to 24 years in prison after he pleaded guilty in Deschutes County Circuit Court to manslaughter, driving under the influence of intoxicants and criminally negligent homicide in the Oct. 12, 2023, crash.
