A Montgomery man is facing arson charges in a fire that damaged an unoccupied home, fire officials say.

On Thursday, Oct. 9, at about 12:02 p.m. Montgomery Fire and Rescue units went to the 2500 block of Poplar Street on a possible structure fire, said District Chief Kenneth Peoples. There was a one-story residential structure with smoke visible, he said. The fire was extinguished. There were no reports of injures, Peoples said.

While at the scene, Christopher Johnson was identified as a possible suspect in the fire, Peoples said. He was taken to MF/R headquarters where he was interviewed and charged with arson in the case, Peoples said.
