The Tripura Police Friday nabbed an inmate who had escaped from the Dharmanagar sub-jail in North Tripura district last week.

The inmate, identified as Mohammad Rahim Ali, was re-arrested by a team headed by sub-inspector Biswajit Das of Dharmanagar police station with the help of the Assam Police in the neighbouring state’s Sribhumi district.

A total of six inmates, including five undertrial prisoners and one convict, fled the sub-jail on the morning of October 1.

The inmates escaped after attacking security guard Bedu Miah with some sharp weapons. Miah was admitted to Dharmanagar District Hospital, where his condition is reported to be stable now.

With Rahim Ali in the police net, three of the six escapees have been rearrested so far.
