Martin Lewis' MSE team helped a pensioner recover £675 after they were tricked by a misleading "click to claim" advert.

Despite being banned by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), many still pop up on reputable websites, including Complete Savings, a cashback website.

This is where Ray, a retired nurse living in Sussex, was caught out by the misleading advert.

The 70-year-old was doing online shopping back in 2021 when the ad appeared on his screen, prompting him to enter his credit card information.

Instead, he signed up for a subscription and was charged £15 every month.

Over the course of unknowingly being subscribed for three years, his total charge amounted to £675.
