MARSHALL, Texas (KETK) -- A minor has been arrested after making threatening statements toward a local school, the Marshall Police Department said on Friday.

The report came in on Thursday, and investigators began working with Marshall ISD and the Harrison County District Attorney's Office, where they identified and apprehended the minor for making the statements.

Due to the suspect's age, the police department will not release any further information.

"The safety of our students, faculty, and community remains our top priority," the police department said. "The Marshall Police Department and our law enforcement partners take all reports of potential threats seriously and will continue to respond swiftly to ensure the safety and security of our schools."
