Kidnapping and sexual assault charges against a Detroit man accused of luring a 10-year-old into his home and sexually assaulting her have been dismissed "in the best interests of justice," according to prosecutors.

Cedric Jackson was charged in April 2024 with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping, and unlawful imprisonment.

He was accused of luring a 10-year-old into his house in the 15700 block of Braille and sexually assaulting her, police said.

The case was dismissed Sept. 8 in Wayne County Circuit Court, just two months after Jackson was found mentally competent to stand trial.

Wayne County Assistant Prosecutor Maria Miller said prosecutors dismissed the case "in the best interests of justice."

Jackson's attorney, Kiana Franulic, did not respond for comment Tuesday.
