Concord police arrested a 27-year-old man after a woman reported being assaulted in the city's downtown early Thursday morning.
A woman reported the attack around 12:40 a.m. in the area of Bridge Street and Loudon Road, according to a news release. The 58-year-old woman had minor injuries.
The woman told police she was picking up trash as part of her normal routine when “without warning or provocation” the man approached her and placed his hands over her face and mouth.
Jonathan Shaw, who has an unknown address, was charged with second-degree assault (strangulation), a felony, and simple assault, a misdemeanor.
The woman fought back and reported to police she bit the man’s finger. The man responded by striking her in the face, pushing her to the ground and fled. The woman had no intera
