Actor Alia Bhatt has emerged as a likely candidate to step into the role of Sumathi in the sequel to 'Kalki 2898 AD.' The makers had earlier confirmed actor Deepika Padukone's departure from the film, which stars Prabhas in the lead.

As per a report by Let's Cinema , Alia is in advanced talks for the film. However, an official confirmation from the makers has not yet been released. If finalised, this would mark Alia's first collaboration with both Prabhas and director Nag Ashwin.

Deepika recently addressed her departure and the controversy surrounding her alleged demand for an 8-hour workday in a recent interview.
