OpenAI’s new video-generation app Sora has taken off in record time, surpassing 1 million downloads in less than five days, according to Bill Peebles, head of Sora at OpenAI.
Peebles said on Wednesday that the milestone came “even faster than ChatGPT did (despite the invite flow and only targeting North America)” and added that the team is “working hard to keep up with surging growth,” promising more features and adjustments to over-moderation soon.
YouTuber and ‘boxer’ Jake Paul also revealed he’s been advising the Sora team this year and is an OpenAI investor. “I agreed to become the first celebrity [Name, Image, and Likeness] cameo user and from there things went crazy,” he said on X, noting that his AI cameo videos have generated over 1 billion views in six days.
