GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A person in southeast Michigan is being treated after being bitten by a rabid bat.
The St. Clair County Health Department says they were informed of the rabid bat on Friday by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. It was the first rabid bat reported this year in St. Clair County.
Thirty-nine rabid bats have been found across the state this year, including 12 in West Michigan: three in Kalamazoo County, two each in Kent, Ottawa and Allegan counties and one each in Calhoun, Berrien and Montcalm counties.
