The Wild got their 2025-26 season off to a winning start, thumping the Blues 5-0 on Thursday night in St. Louis. While the score line shows a blowout, it didn't always look that way on the ice. However, despite large periods of sloppy play, there was a lot to be excited about after 60 minutes of hockey.

Filip Gustavsson, fresh off inking a brand-new deal, saved 26 shots on the way to his first shutout of the season. However, it was just the total shots stopped that stood out on the night.
The Wild defense was under constant pressure throughout the night, but the way that Gustavsson was able to either swallow up shots and send the deflections into non-dangerous areas made the defense's job significantly easier.
