HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - Former Holyoke City Councilor Wilmer Puello-Mota is attempting to vote in the upcoming city election from Russia.
Puello-Mota, a U.S. Air Force veteran, allegedly fled the country in 2024 after being arrested on child pornography charges in Rhode Island. He has submitted a federal postcard application to vote, which is currently under review by Holyoke City Clerk Brenna Murphy Leary.
"We are reviewing the application and will determine if he is qualified to vote," said Brenna Murphy Leary, Holyoke City Clerk.
The federal postcard application allows service members to vote from anywhere in the world. Puello-Mota's application is part of this process, ensuring that military personnel can participate in elections despite being overseas.
