A Lincoln councillor has left Labour because of his "disappointment" with the government. has represented Hartsholme for nine years, but says that people in the area aren't feeling any benefit from national policies.

He says he will focus all his attention on local matters and will sit on the City of Lincoln Council as an independent. "I am disappointed with the national government—and all parties for that matter—and have been for some time," he said.

"Most people are sick of all parties who over-promise and underachieve. Working people aren't getting benefits from any of them. People on the doorstep are telling me they're fed up with all the leaders, and I have to agree. It's embarrassing.
