MILL CITY, Ore. - The search for 18-year-old Karandeep Singh continues near the Mill City bridge on the North Santiam River, according to the Linn County Sheriff's Office.

LCSO officials said that Singh was last seen on Oct. 7 with friends by the river. Singh, who did not know how to swim, jumped into the river despite his friends' attempts to stop him, sheriff's officials said. His friends entered the water to help but lost sight of him and the incident was reported to authorities the next morning, partly delayed by a language barrier. Recovery efforts started on Oct. 9, with Water Rescue Team divers searching the river. Due to fast waters and underwater hazards, divers used extreme caution and employed underwater cameras and drones.
