NEW YORK (PIX11) -- SNAP benefits have increased in October despite growing concerns that the funding may be cut due to the government shutdown.

The benefits are provided through an Electronic Benefits Transfer card, with benefits deposited into your account every month.

Recipients can see the new maximum allotments in the table below.

Eligibility is based on your gross income and family size. The Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance states that "the only way to determine if your household is eligible for SNAP benefits is to apply."

For more information about SNAP, contact your local department of social services or call the toll-free OTDA Hotline: 1-800-342-3009.
