HARRISBURG — A bipartisan group of state senators is proposing a blanket ban on students’ smartphones in Pennsylvania schools.

Senate Bill 1014 proposes a mandated ban on personal internet-capable devices, including smartphones, tablets and mobile video game systems throughout the school day, requiring schools to adopt “bell-to-bell phone-free” policies prohibiting use of the devices by students beginning in the 2026-27 school year.
