The latest orange zone report from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways provides a promising update on the $29 million highway twinning and roundabout construction project.
The project involved two key pieces, the twinning of 5.8 kilometres of highway on Highway 39 northwest of the city, and the installation of a roundabout at the intersection of Highway 39 and 13.
Dan Palmer with the ministry says weather permitting; the detour adjacent to the roundabout will be removed early next week.
“Highway 39 traffic will then begin to flow on a portion of the roundabout. Work nearby on Highway 13, that's going to continue. But if things go well, traffic is expected to be using the roundabout by the end of this month.”
