LAYTON — An apartment building caught fire Friday morning, prompting firefighters to arrive with multiple engines in Layton.

KSL NewsRadio was on scene at the Layton Meadows Apartments and observed smoke coming from an area behind Wells Fargo, where firefighters had stationed to fight the fire.

A witness at the scene said flames were large at the beginning, but crews quickly showed up and began mitigating the fire’s spread.

Clint Drake, a spokesperson for Layton, said 37 people were displaced by the fire, but there were no serious injuries reported. Four police officers were treated for smoke inhalation.

The American Red Cross of Utah will have an emergency shelter available to those who are displaced by the fire at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meeting house located
