Is the bromance off between Prime Minister Mark Carney and Ontario Premier Doug Ford?
Carney’s soft handling of Donald Trump and concerns about the Liberals potentially abandoning the auto industry would appear to say yes.
Ford has been one of Carney’s staunchest allies since he was elected prime minister; some conservative voters even blame the Ontario PC leader for helping get Carney elected back in April.
Over the past several months, Ford has praised Carney’s handling of the cross-border relationship in terms of tariffs and he has encouraged other premiers to give Carney a chance. Back in July, when Ford hosted all of the premiers in Muskoka for a meeting of the Council of the Federation, Carney joined them for a meeting and what some deemed a sleepover at Ford’s cottage.
