LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

Shelby Park will host one of the most unique competitions of the year Friday and Saturday when the Kentucky Arborists Association presents the Kentucky Tree Climbing Championship.

The competition features five events that showcase the skills professional arborists use every day, including speed climbing and aerial rescue scenarios.

Those five events serve as preliminary rounds, with the highest scorers advancing to the championship round. The winner of that event will be crowned the overall champion.

Arborist and Limbwalker Tree Service co-owner Cory Petry organized the event. He said participants from as far away as Norway have come to compete, making it an excellent opportunity for professionals to advance in their field.
