BUFFALO, N.Y. — Dan Gagliardo is on the Republican and Conservative party lines. He is a businessman and new to politics.

"It's actually the perfect time for me. I've had the ability to work in government early on in my career. I've worked for corporate America," he said.

Gagliano says he's qualified for the job, citing a Master's degree in public administration and working various professions.

"Everything I've ever done, it's always been about consensus building and his is what we're lacking here in Amherst," he said.

Shawn Lavin is a Democrat, a veteran, works for Erie County, and he is currently the deputy town supervisor in Amherst. He promises an efficient government and transparency.
