Bill Guerin's Wild got off to a winning start, hammering the Blues 5-0 on Thursday night. When the puck dropped in St. Louis, it officially put an end to one of the most important offseasons in Wild franchise history.

Guerin inked new deals for star forward Marco Rossi and goaltender Filip Gustavsson, as well as a record-breaking contract with winger Kirill Kaprizov in the span of three months. The 54-year-old admitted in an interview with the Spittin' Chiclets podcast that the drawn-out negotiations with Kaprizov's camp "took a little longer than everybody would have liked" but that in the end, everybody got what they wanted out of the deal.
