What’s old is new again as a development quashed by city council four years ago over height and sewage capacity concerns is back on the table amid a new housing reality.
Proposed to replace a number of single family homes at 1453-1459 Oxford St. E and 648-656 Ayreswood Ave. is a 25-storey tower directly across from Fanshawe College promising 352 units, 817 square metres of ground floor commercial space, and a total of 116 parking spaces, with 60 of them underground.
“I think the beauty of this, is that it’s right on our transit system,” said Ward 3 Coun. Peter Cuddy. “The ability for these kids, not only to walk to Fanshawe . . . but the ability for these kids to access our downtown and our core is tremendous.”
