A 27-year-old man is being held without bail on charges connected to an assault of a woman in downtown Concord early Thursday morning, police said.
A woman reported the attack around 12:40 a.m. in the area of Bridge Street and Loudon Road, according to a news release. The 58-year-old woman had minor injuries.
The woman told police she was picking up trash as part of her normal routine when “without warning or provocation” the man approached her and placed his hands over her face and mouth, which restricted her ability to breathe, according to the release.
Jonathan Shaw, who has an unknown address, was charged with second-degree assault, a Class B felony, and simple assault, a Class A misdemeanor.
