An artifact was unearthed by a couple in New Orleans, Louisiana as they did a little work in their backyard.
This may not sound like a surprise, given how old the city is, until you realize this artifact is from Ancient Rome .
Smithsonian Magazine reports that an anthropologist at Tulane University, Daniella Santoro, and her husband, Aaron Lorenz, were gardening when they stumbled upon the tombstone. Initially, Santoro worried their house had been built on top of a cemetery, prompting her to reach out to the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans (PRC).
