SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Gray News) – Do you hate when commercials are louder than the actual program you’re watching on streaming services? If you live in California, you’re in luck – those loud advertisements will soon be a thing of the past.
On Monday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill into law to “turn down the volume of commercials that rise to a level louder than the primary video content being watched,” according to a news release .
It targets advertisements on streaming services like Hulu and Prime Video.
California previously passed an act in 2010 to mitigate the loudness of commercials on broadcast television and cable operators, but that act did not address streaming services.
“We heard Californians loud and clear, and what’s clear is that they don’t want commercials a
