PICKENS COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Pickens County school leaders celebrated the newest addition to their bus fleet this week, unveiling a specially designed vehicle that addresses a critical transportation need for special education students.
The 2026 model handicap-accessible bus replaces a special education vehicle lost in an accident, fulfilling what district officials say is a legal requirement to provide appropriate transportation for students with disabilities.
Superintendent Shawn McDaniel and several administrators showcased the new bus to the children who will ride it daily. The vehicle is designed to give special education students a safe, comfortable ride in a bus that accommodates their physical needs.
