FOLEY, Ala. (WKRG) — The Foley City Council is looking for bids to build a safe room for first responders in the area in case of disasters.

The safe room, which will be around 10,000 square feet, hold up to 200 people and withstand 200 mile per hour winds, is expected to be ready by the 2027 hurricane season.

A city news release said the building will also be equipped with a 400-kilowatt generator, a kitchen facility and "everything needed to house personnel during an emergency."
