MANSFIELD, La. – DeSoto Clerk of Court Lisa Lobrano Burson has sued former District Attorney Gary Evans for non-payment of court costs in two settled lawsuits.

Burson alleges in her petition that Evans owes $2,395.

The costs were incurred when Deborah David Wilkinson filed suit against Evans when he served as district attorney, and for a lawsuit Evans filed against current District Attorney Charles Adams when he was a district court judge.

Wilkinson sued Evans in late 2019, alleging he wrongfully took more land than he was entitled to – along with a royalty lease payment – as part of a land sale. The lawsuit was settled in May 2024 when Evans agreed to return the 23-acre tract of land, which included her home, and he also paid her $20,000.
