OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) — The proposed sports complex by Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club has cleared another hurdle after state officials returned their review with recommendations, but developers must now complete a traffic study before moving forward.

The proposal, which was sent to the state for review in July, came back this week with comments from Florida Commerce officials. Chuck Varadin, director of Marion County Growth Services, said the state’s primary concern focused on traffic flow in the area.

If the traffic study reveals that improvements like turning lanes or other infrastructure are needed to reduce congestion, developers could be responsible for completing those improvements.
